In May 2023, the residency will feature the participation of dance artists Ella Posti and Ella Holappa, along with scenographer Tua Holappa. They are part of a five-person work group. This group also includes composer Omri Kochavi and musician Yoav Feinberg.

Ella Holappa and Ella Posti are the dancer-choreographers behind the piece "Matter of Course." They have developed a collaborative artistic practice since studying at the London Contemporary Dance School. After graduating, they worked in dance, choreography, dramaturgy, and production, splitting their time between Finland and London. Posti and Holappa are members of the international MOŸ MOŸ collective, which comprises seven dance artists from various parts of Europe.

In their work, Posti and Holappa explore the intersection of science and art. They believe that dance provides a platform where truth and fiction can coexist harmoniously. Additionally, they consider how their personal experiences and thoughts can serve as a gateway to connecting with humanity amidst abstract concepts.

Furthermore, they are intrigued by incorporating popular culture phenomena, such as "merch" or peripheral products, into their work with a non-profit motive. They see branding as a means to extend the lifespan of a traditional stage play beyond the confines of a theater space.

Tua Holappa is currently studying scenography at Helsinki Theater Academy. He is particularly fascinated by how materiality can shape the dramaturgy of a performance.

During the residency, the group will continue developing the dance piece "Matter of Course" into a full-length work.

"Matter of Course" reflects on parallel realities, where different realities coexist simultaneously. The idea originated from contemplating how individuals construct their own understanding of the world based on their unique life experiences. The group explores the tension that arises when people live in their separate realities, sometimes assuming that everyone's reality is the same. This can lead to significant contradictions and tensions among people, as evident in the current world political situation. As dance artists, they delve into this theme within the realm of dance, specifically in a stage production.

In August, the rest of the group members will join the residency, and the work will continue.
